Top Job Interview Questions for Insurance Salespeople
Top Job Interview Questions for Insurance SalespeopleTop Job Interview Questions for Insurance SalespeopleThe key to landing any job is to prepare to answer questions that are likely to come up during the application process. If youre interviewing for a job as an insurance schlussverkaufperson, that means being ready to talk about your sales technique and to demonstrate knowledge of the industry and the company. All job interviews are at least partly a sales pitch, but sales jobs are doubly so. You can expect to be required to display your skills by closing the sale, so to speak. This is your opportunity not only to show off your acumen and familiarity with the job, but also to demonstrate how youd interact with clients and colleagues. The mora you can find out about the company culture before the interview, the better youll be able to show that youre a good fit for the team. Some organizations may push their salespeople to be more aggressive, for example, or they may prize sellers w ho demonstrate a high degree of skill with sales management software. If you can learn more about the challenges facing the organization before you head in to the interview, you can make a better case for yourself as the candidate who will solve their problems. Background, Strengths, and Experience Your prospective employer will want to know a lot about your background and experience. Expect to answer questions about cold calling, meeting sales goals, your motivation and passion for the job, and your strengths and weaknesses. The interviewer will also want to know what to expect out of you as a worker. Their aim will be to determine whether youre likely to be successful as a member of the team and organization. Be prepared to answer questions about what youve done in the past. A few examples How would you meet your quotas or bring in sales? How long would you expect to stay in sales if hired? How do you organize, plan, and prioritize your work as a salesman? Theyll probably want t o know why you personally are suited for a sales environment and how much time you would ideally spend in an office. Again, its important to know what will be required in this particular job. You may also be asked to rate how trainable you are and what you think youre worth. Be prepared to discuss the contributions to profits that youve made to justify your salary request. Finally, your interviewer may even ask if youve ever been fired. Be honest, especially if it welches in the recent past and theyll likely find out. Be prepared to share your side of the story without dwelling on the past. Disclose how youve learned from the experience and grown into a better employee. Industry Knowledge Knowing your industry will make you a much better salesperson than if youre clueless about the insurance field. With this in mind, expect your interviewer to ask you questions such as, Which drivers will influence the market in the next 18 months? The interviewer might also expect you to know i nformation specifically about the company in question. For example, What do you think is a typical day in the life of an insurance salesman at the company? Be sure to study up on the company and say why you want to work there. You might also be asked to critique the company. But dont go overboard here. You want your criticism to be as constructive as possible. Maybe mention some areas in which the company could improve and how youre the right person to do so. Communication and Interpersonal Skills Working in insurance sales means that you have to be an effective communicator. That means interviewers will want to know if you can distinguish communication skills from listening skills. Theyll also be likely to ask how you build relationships with clients and handle rejection. Be ready to share an experience you had dealing with a difficult customer and how you handled the situation. And if youre a good communicator, youre likely to enjoy cold calling, so be prepared to discuss that . Your prospective employer might also want you to share an effective method you have used to sell insurance. Lastly, be ready for curveballs. For example, its not uncommon for interviewers to ask candidates to sell them something in 60 seconds or less, e.g., Sell me this pen. Practice demonstrating your sales technique so that you can impress when the time comes.

When we stop dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, were open to rich sources of information weve been missing out on?- ?information that can keep us out of the downward spiral and poised for a richer life.Mindfulness aims to achieve a relaxed, non-judgmental awareness of your pres ent thoughts, feelings and emotions. The simple act of making your actions deliberate, elend rushed and random can improve your mood and help you focus better.Mark Williams, professor of clinical psychology at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, part of Oxford Universitys department of psychiatry, calls it direct knowledge of what is going on inside and outside ourselves, moment by moment. The life-changing habit is about learning to direct our attention to our experiences as they unfold, instead of choosing to live in our heads. Its about noticing our thoughts, especially when they are taking over, and realising that they are simply mental events that do not have to control our emotions. In his TED Talk All It Takes Is 10 Mindful Minutes, mindfulness expert and Founder of Headspace, Andy Puddicombe, explains, bedrngnis being lost in thought, not being distracted, not being overwhelmed by difficult emotions but instead learning how to be in the here and now how to be mindful, how to be pres ent. Take charge of your thinking habits by switching off the auto-pilot.Slow down your thinking.Become aware of your thoughts.Become comfortable with the silence and stillness. Most experts recommend a formal practice of mindfulness for about 15 minutes every day.But that will be hard for a wandering mind. Training your mind to filter the noise in your head to observe is tough.Naturally, its not easy to clear your mind of all thought.Anyone who has tried to meditate knows how hard it is when the mind keeps wandering in to thoughts, from trivial to life-changing.Attention is a precious commodity, yet we give it away most freely. And struggle to find it when we need it most. What you could do is start slow.Develop one habit at a time. There are dozens of daily mindful habits you can adopt. Project vs. People Management
Project vs. People ManagementProject vs. People ManagementManaging projects and managing/supervising require many of the saatkorn skills and abilities however, the jobs are dissimilar in their authority and technical expertise. Both present interesting and challenging career paths for those who have leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Skills Required for Effective Management Both disciplines require strong leadership skills. Project managers and supervisors lead teams to achieve common goals and, to be a leader, people have to follow. Work does elend get done when team members dont fill their roles, and everyone gets frustrated, and while individuals may face disciplinary action, leaders are the ones whose jobs are most in jeopardy when targets are missed. A common adage about project managers is they spend 90% of their time communicating. Checking on the position of a task that a member is committed to completing, writing status reports, and holding meetings are just a few of the responsibilities managers have. Supervisors also set expectations with their staff, gather information, and report on the teams work Organizational skills are important for project managers and supervisors. Project managers tend to be planners by nature who thrive on establishing a plan and executing it. They even have plans within plans like a communication plan within a projects work breakdown structure. Supervisors need to keep track of what their staff members are doing. Supervisors ensure everyone is working on the right things at the right time. They corral the work of individual contributors to help their efforts be most useful to their employing business, nonprofit or government agency. Using Appropriate Leverage to Complete Tasks Authority - Project managers do not hold management authority over their project team members whereas supervisors can hire, fire, discipline and compel their staff to follow orders. Without the threat of personnel action in t heir back pockets, This dynamic requires project leaders to have excellent management skills. Granted, supervisors should rarely threaten personnel action, but they have the ability, and many times, that is enough of a threat. While project managers cannot fire their project team members for poor performance, they have ways of holding team members accountable. On the front end of a project, a project manager works with supervisors to gain commitment from them on how much time and effort will be expected of their staff who will participate in the project. When project managers and supervisors are on the same page in this respect, it is easier for project managers to outline how a project team member is not contributing appropriately. A project managers first instinct is not to go to a team members supervisor when a problem occurs. Project managers set up mechanisms for team members to hold one another accountable. Regular status meetings where team members commit to executing tasks w ithin specified timeframes help the team members hold one another accountable. A project manager does not want to be the only one calling out people on missed deadlines and poor deliverable quality. When all else fails, a project manager gets help from a project sponsor. This person has the organizational clout to do things neither a project manager nor an ordinary supervisor can do. A project sponsor can go above a supervisor to have a project team member removed or coached to better performance. Expertise - Something that makes project managers approach their work differently than supervisors is that a project manager is not necessarily an expert in a projects subject matter while supervisors are experts in staff business. A project manager is an expert in project management processes who brings together differently qualified experts to achieve a projects goals. The project team solves a projects problems and issues. The project manager provides structure for the team to do so. A supervisor is mora participatory in devising business solutions because he or she often has a similar degree of expertise on the matter as his or her staff.

Many workers love the idea of cutting out their commute and spending more time with their families, while companies love the cost-saving aspect of having workers telecommute. In fact, according to studies, at least 34 million Americans currently work at home, either full-time or occasionally. This figure is expected to rise to 63 million by 2016, at which point virtual workers will make up 43 percent of the American workforce. With telecommuting on the rise, it only makes sense that more companies are scheduling a virtual bewerbungsinterview to screen candidates. A virtual interview seems like the perfect tool to help hire the best virtual team around. But just how do you make sure youre using the video interview to hire workers best suited to the work from home environment? Here are some things to consider when tal king to talented candidatesAre They Self-Directed?Perhaps one of the most important personality aspects for a worker ready to join your virtual team is the ability to self-direct and schedule their own workflow. While working from home can be great, it can also come with its share of distractions. Theres the pile of laundry, the television set and potentially children at home begging for attention. For your worker to thrive on your virtual team, you need someone who can shut out the noise and get things done.In the virtual interview, look for candidates who can keep track of their own work and stay on target. Ask candidates questions about how theyve managed their work in the past and look for specific instances of times your talent has worked independently. If your candidate can manage their own projects and stay motivated even when working by themselves, they will be a good fit for the telecommuting lifestyle.Look Out for Communication SkillsEvaluating communication skills is extr emely important before adding a member to your virtual team, no matter what your primary mode of communication will be. Candidates with superior communication skills will do better in a telecommuting environment because those skills are necessary to keep in contact with coworkers and superiors. You need an employee who will keep you in the loop about what theyre doing, the position of their projects and what help they might need to succeed. In the virtual interview, keep a sharp eye out for your candidates communication skills. The video interview medium will help you better judge how your candidate communicates than phone screens or email alone. You might not be seeing your worker face-to-face every day, but for the interview its important to see how they interact on a more personal level. If their communication skills arent up to par, its a good bet youll have a lot of misunderstandings and headaches when this worker faces the communication challenges of telecommuting.Do They Under stand the Importance of Deadlines? In a work from home environment, deadlines take on a new importance. After all, making deadlines is an easy way to evaluate whether your virtual team is staying focused. Without seeing your employees in the office every day, its hard to keep track of their progress on important projects. Like in any business, major deadlines need to be hit and major milestones accomplished. In the virtual interview, ask for examples of when the candidate has dealt with a tight deadline. Look for examples of the candidate going over and above to get something accomplished on time. These will be the kind of workers who will make sure their work is always turned in on time.To hire a great virtual team, you need to be on the lookout for candidates who can handle the telecommuting lifestyle. Its not for everyone, but if you find employees who thrive in this environment your company will see real value. Just make sure to use the video interview as a place to look for concr ete examples of how candidates communicate, work independently, and handle deadlines. What are some things you look for in the virtual interview when hiring for your virtual team? 4 Invaluable Career Lessons from Severus Snape
4 Invaluable Career Lessons from Severus Snape 4 Invaluable Career Lessons from Severus Snape Last week, the world lost a phenomenal actor. Alan Rickman had a long career that spanned both film and stage. Known primarily for his portrayal of villainous characters, for many, Rickman will be remembered simply as Severus Snape from the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter fans everywhere have left tribute to Rickmanâs Snape, leaving flowers at the 9 ¾ platform at Londonâs King Cross Station, and âraising their wandsâ on Twitter. At Simply Hired, we mourn the loss of Rickman and his Snape, by taking a look at some of his most invaluable career advice. You must love what you do. Snape: âI dont expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However for those select few⦠I can teach you to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death.â This scene is iconic. Harry Potter is about to have his first run-in with his new Potions Master, Severus Snape. Snape enters the classroom with pomp and flare and delivers a truly hypnotizing speech about potion-making. It is apparent from the first moment he appears on screen, that although Defense Against The Dark Arts might have been his first choice in subject matter, Snape truly has a passion for potions. We all can use this as a guide for our own approach to work, even if our current job is not our dream job. Always stand by your word Snape: âHas it ever crossed your brilliant mind that I dont want to do this anymore?â Dumbledore: âWhether it has or it hasnt is irrelevant; you gave me your word.â Snape has agreed to kill the man who has become his mentor and friend. It is for the betterment of the wizarding world, but as would anyone, Snape does not want to have to complete such a horrific task. However he has given Dumbledore his word. He must follow it through, and he does. At work you are only as good as your word. People can only respect someone whom they trust, so do all in your power to stand by your own word. Sometimes you have to do things that you dont want to Beatrix Lestrange: âWill you, Severus Snape, watch over Draco Malfoy, as he attempts to fulfill the Dark Lordâs wishes?â Severus Snape: âI will.â Beatrix Lestrange: âAnd will you, to the best of your ability, protect him from harm?â Severus Snape: âI will.â Beatrix Lestrange: âAnd if Draco should fail, will you yourself carry out the deed the Dark Lord has ordered Draco to perform?â Severus Snape: âI will.âDraco Malfoy is still young and has been given the near impossible task of killing Albus Dumbledore, his former headmaster at school in order to help save the Wizarding World. Snape agrees to step in and protect Malfoy from any backlash that could come his way if unable to accomplish his horrible goal. Snape does not want to kill Dumbledore, but he knows that he must accomplish this task despite his own feelings. Now, if your job requires that you actually kill someone, then itâs probably time to reevaluate your priorities. However, for us Muggles, there will be plenty of times that you are called upon to do something at work that you donât want to, whether it be something boring or something you just donât enjoy. Take a cue from Snape and soldier through. Always approach work with confidence Snape: âThat is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Tell me, are you incapable of restraining yourself, or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all?â In this classroom interaction with Hogwartsâ resident genius Hermione Granger, Snape rather rudely puts her in her place. We donât recommend treating people with such blatant contempt or malice in the office, however there is a benefit to approaching your work with confidence. Snape knew that he was in charge of the room and that he must maintain control and order. You must go into work every day and confidently approach your work to deliver your best product or service. If you are a Harry Potter fan, you know that there are many characters to admire throughout JK Rowlingâs epic tale. Severus Snape may have been one of the more mysterious, but he was nonetheless a role model in his own right. Rest in peace, Snape and Alan Rickman.

Marine Corps Enlisted Promotions
Marine Corps Enlisted Promotions Marine Corps Enlisted Promotions To determine the best qualified for promotion to Corporal (E-4) and Sergeant (E-5) in the Marine Corps, the Marines use a composite point system. Promotion points within each MOS are determined with promotion points that are awarded for the following: Rifle Marksmanship Score Determined based on the Marines score on the rifle range. See conversion chart to convert rifle range scores to promotion points.Physical Fitness Score Determined based on the Marines latest physical fitness test. See conversion chart to convert Marine Corps PFT scores to Promotion Points.Average Duty Performance Ratings A Marines duty performance is rated periodically by his/her supervisors. The ratings used for promotion points are the average of all the duty performance ratings received since the last change in rank (promotion, demotion, etc). The average of duty proficiency marks are rounded off to the nearest 10th (4.44 would be 4.4; 4.45 would be 4.5). Average Conduct Ratings Like duty performance ratings, a Marines conduct is rated periodically by his/her superiors. The ratings used for promotion points are the average of all the conduct ratings received since the last change in rank (promotion, demotion, etc). The average of duty conduct marks are rounded off to the nearest 10th (4.44 would be 4.4; 4.45 would be 4.5).Time-in-Service The number to be used is the total months in service (U.S. Armed Forcesactive and Reserve) accrued in the military. Time-in-Grade The computation of the total months in grade includes the number of months in the present grade on the current enlistment and the time-in-grade in the current or higher grade from a previous enlistment (USMC or USMCR [SMCR or IRR]), if the service was satisfactorily performed.Drill Sergeant/Recruiter/Security Guard Bonus Points Commanders can add 100 bonus points for Marines who are performing duty as Drill Instructors, Recruiters, and Marine Corps Security Guards.Self-Education E-3s and E-4s competing for promotion receive bonus points for military and civilian education. See conversion charts for points that can be awarded. Command Recruiting Referrals E-3s and E-4s can refer individuals to recruiters. If those individuals then enlist in the Marine Corps, the E-3/E-4 will receive 20 bonus points for each individual referred (Note: Marine Corps Recruiters are not eligible for these referral points but they are eligible for the 100 point Recruiter Bonus, above). Use the table below to compute total promotion composite score: Line # Item Example Score Total 1 Rifle Marksmanship Promotion Points 5.0 5.0 2 Physical Fitness Promotion Points 5.0 5.0 3 Add lines 1 and 2 together 10 10 4 Divide the results by 2 5 5 5 Multiply Duty Performance Marks Average by 100 44.5 49.5 6 Multiply Conduct Rating Average by 100 43.5 93 7 Multiply number of months time-in-grade by 10 50 143 8 Multiply number of months time-in-service by 2 6 149 9 Self-Education Points (maximum 75) 25 169 10 Add Drill Instructor/Recruiter/Security Guard Points (if applicable) 100 269 11 Add 20 points for each recruiting referral (maximum 100 points) 40 289 12 Total Composite Score 289 Above Information Derived from MCO P1400.32C, Marine Corps Enlisted Promotion Manual

How to make your resume stand out according to three recruiters
How to make your resume stand out according to three recruiters How to make your resume stand out according to three recruiters I recently went to our Dublin office and had a chat with Cpl Irelandâs sourcing team, the âTalent Innovation Hubâ (TIH). In addition to helping job applicants, the TIH also proactively reach out to âpassiveâ candidates. Those who are not actively applying for jobs but are nonetheless likely to discuss a new opportunity.I asked Kenji, Adarsh, and Chloe (all working at TIH) what kind of information sourcing specialists look for in the candidatesâ resumes. I hope this conversation will help many people out there to improve their resumes and increase their chances of getting hired for the right job.1. What do you like about your job at TIH?One of the great things about working at TIH is that we feel satisfied in providing very specific expertise and support to candidates who are looking for a career move. We know what our clients are looking for in a candidateâs resume. We also talk to candidates to find out their strengths and achievements. We can bridge the two and facili tate a smooth hiring process. On the other hand, we also ask candidates some of the less comfortable questions â" What do you think is the weak point in your resume presentation? What can we do to address it? What do they think is their weakness? We also remind active job-seekers that sometimes the problem is not in the candidateâs fit for the role, but rather in the way the candidate is presenting him or herself in the resume and during the interview.2. How many resumes do you go through on a daily basis? At least 50. If we are looking at online profiles, we might go through as many as 400 per day.3. What are the two things candidates can do to improve their resume?Be more specific about your experience and skills. What hiring managers want to know is the unique impact you had in your past positions. For example, instead of writing âI deal with customers,â try giving numbers (what was your team size? how many customers? what were your targets? were they achieved or exceeded? et c. etc.) and try to describe the specific kind of conversations you had with the customers, including specific customer feedback.Avoiding cliches is another way to improve your resume. If we see a cliche, that is a huge turn off for us, because everybody else is writing the same thing! Of course, every company wants a fast learner and a motivated worker. But donât write âI am a motivated workerâ or âI am a fast learner,â because saying that doesnât prove anything. Instead, describe an example that shows you are a dedicated person or a quick learner.Related articles:Pros and Cons of working in a startupHow to get hired as a designer: job search resume adviceA real example of a resume without work experience that has impact4. What is an important piece of information that is missing in most resumes that you receive?Weâd say that candidates should be much more âselfishâ in their resumes and write what exactly it is that they are looking for in their career. For examp le, if you are a fresh graduate looking for an entry-level position in civil engineering, be very specific and write something like âI am a fresh graduate with a degree in so-and-so. I hope to obtain an entry-level position in civil engineering. I am open to industries but would prefer to stay in Galway.â This kind of summary is very important, but unfortunately, this is something that 99.9% of resumes donât have. In their resumes candidates only talk about what they can offer but nothing about how their career is supposed to progress. And thatâs what makes a difference.Another thing thats important but missing is their Visa status. If we donât see your nationality and/or Visa status on your resume, we assume that you are not writing it because you do not have permission to work in Ireland or the EU. If this is your situation, hiding it does not benefit you in any way. Be straightforward, so that when we give you a call you are spending your time discussing a role that you are actually eligible for. Even if you have permission to work in Ireland and you know it, you need to write it in your resume to let your employer know about it as well.5. What advice would you give to candidates with little experience? In addition to what weâve already said, candidates should also mention projects theyâve done, such as things they achieved at university/college. Sometimes, volunteering can look even better than working, but again, they need to explain what exactly they have done. One mistake we see from junior resumes is that they list a role that anybody could have done cleaner, waitress, etc. And then they try to make it look special. This shouldnt be all you can talk about. Instead, tell us about what youâve achieved and what skills you acquired that a typical graduate will not have. Consider having a bigger education section or having a projects section. By all means, put your part-time job there so we know that you work hard, but donât waste space by elaborating on menial work.6. Can you think of a resume which really stood out?Yes, many! There was this one online resume which looked like a Super Mario game. When looking through the candidateâs previous experience, you control the Mario and jump from one section to another by clicking a button. It was a resume made by a developer and it really proved his skills. He could make things interactive and had a great sense for UI.That is all great and creative, but when it comes to serious business, the most impressive applications are the ones where the candidate has a good understanding of what the role theyâre applying for is.After all the excitement from a creative resume is over, this is what really matters and makes the difference. Weâre really impressed by someone who can stick to the point, be short, and still manage to include everything that is relevant to the job they are applying for.7. Whats the main difference between a Linkedin profile and a resume?A resume is more detailed, and it may contain information that you wouldnât want to make public, for example, your home address. Also, people can exaggerate themselves in a Linkedin profile more easily than in a resume. Also on Linkedin, candidates tend to mention a huge list of skills they have and languages they speak. But on their resumes candidates will be to mention how good they are in these skills and languages, where they used those skills, and really focus on what is relevant to the job they are applying for.Another difference is an endorsement. On Linkedin, people get endorsed by others. But nowadays people just give endorsements without even knowing how good you are. You never know how credible that is. We generally rely more on references than skill endorsement on an online profile. Finally, one thing about a LinkedIn profile is that candidates do not really think about the layout. You just need to fill in the details to make your own profile, which is very easy and accessible.8. Do yo u think that resumes are dying?Definitely not. We can see where people who say that are coming from, though. Think about it. Does a person who is a good software developer have a good resume? Or, is a person who canât write a good sentence in their resume a bad software developer? Not necessarily. This is where we should be a bit more critical. It means resumes do need a bit of transformation. However, I believe that people will always need a resume. Itâs a written proof of what the person has done.*note, this article was originally published in May of 2017To read next: Check out our resume examples section that got people hired at their dream jobs.

Favorite T.I. Games in Air Force Basic Training
Favorite T.I. Games in Air Force Basic Training Favorite T.I. Games in Air Force Basic Training With any luck, you will have arrived at Air Force Basic Military Training (AFBMT) in the evening or the night, and this first day wont last very long. Depending on how much time the Military Training Instructor (T.I. for short) has to kill before lights out, you may wind up learning some fun new games like fire drill. This exciting leisure activity is a great time-killer. It involves testing your ability to quickly carry your bags (arent you glad you packed light?) from the drill pad to your bunk, then quickly back down to the drill pad again, lining up in formation. Work to get back in the same location where you were once before in formation. This fire drill alone will make you wish you had packed less than you did. You really do not need much in your travel bag as you will be issued everything you need. After graduation, you can get your favorite clothes and other things you like to wear, read, or play with in your down time. You may not play fire drill, as (from many reports), that game seems to have been replaced by a new game Pick em up, and put em down. Speed is the name of the game, and it seems that T.I.s are content to play this game with new recruits for hours and hours. The goal of this game is to do everything as a group, moving the luggage and other gear up and down as a team. This can take hours to perfect in the eyes of the T.I. Another favorite game that T.I.s like to play during that first meeting, is Reporting Statement. This is where everyone gets to stand in formation, holding their civilian luggage, bellowing out the reporting statement, until everyone gets it right (to the T.I.s satisfaction, not yours). Sir, Maam, Trainee Jones Reports as Ordered! Its common for new trainees to want to put sir or maam at the end of the reporting statement. Dont do this. The reporting statement is Sir (or Maam), Trainee Jones Reports, as Ordered!, not Sir, Trainee Jones Reports as Ordered, Sir!, nor is it Trainee Jones Reports, as Ordered, Maam! (Note: You are not yet an airman, you are a trainee.) My good friend, Pete Tabury explains another favorite T.I. Game: When the T.I. says follow me and takes off for the stairway to the dorms, follow him running quickly. I was about the fourth person off the bus and the T.I. told people where to stand when they got off the bus. The first couple of guys were stacked up with lost looks on their faces. Having heard and understood the instructions by the T.I., I stepped to the front and directed the others to follow suit. When the T.I. came and asked me how the Hell I knew what I was doing, I blasted out my reporting statement and then explained that I was in the Police Explorers for three years and had knowledge of marching and formations! He was stunned, and told me that he may make me his dorm chief. Of course, this all fell by the wayside after he did the Pick them up and Put them down game. He looked at me and stated in column formation to follow him! He then bolted to the doorway and swung it open, since the bags were on the ground I was a couple of steps behind. But I would be darned if I was gonna let him get out of my sight and I was right on his heels sprinting. As I was catching up to him, he was already bounding up the stairs, two and three at a time. I did the same and was closing the gap, that was until he hit the first landing, hit the brakes and did an about face! Now he was up about two feet taller than me as I was two steps lower than him and he was screaming in my face from above! CAN YOU READ? he asked. Sir, Trainee Tabury reports as ordered, Yes Sir ! I replied. He then pointed over his left shoulder to the yellow painted cinder block walls and asked me Then what the Hell does that say?!!! And in big black letters it said, Walk, Do Not Run, Use the Hand Rails! So, for the next 6.5 weeks, every time we went in and out of the dorms, I had to stand at the bottom of the stairs and say that phrase to each and every person that entered the dorm from our flight. I will never forget that phrase as long as I live! Be prepared to march everywhere together and even by yourself, marching for hours sometimes. You will also be required to run, pt, wear extra gear like body armor and helmet, eat MREs, live in a tent to simulate deployment, and then eventually you will take your final test and see your family for graduation. All of these events and training are under the direct supervision of the T.I. whose job it is to prepare you for being in the Air Force. One day you will thank for T.I. for this training - One day - long after BMT. Want to Know More About Air Force Basic Training? Surviving Air Force Basic Training

Rules For Phone Calls During Air Force Basic Training
Rules For Phone Calls During Air Force Basic Training Rules For Phone Calls During Air Force Basic Training As an Air Force recruit, youll get a chance to call home at least once during basic training, and depending on how you and the rest of your cohort (known as a flight) perform, you may get additional call permissions as well. First Phone Call Your first call home is the only mandatory phone calls that training instructors (TI) are required to let recruits make. It will most likely happen on the first Saturday or Sunday afternoon after your arrival, but this is not a hard-and-fast rule. Its basically up to the TI. This will be a very short phone call, about three minutes, enough time to pass on your mailing information. Prepare your family or other loved ones in advance about this phone call, as you may not sound well. This particular stage of training is stressful, both physically and psychologically, and your family members may pick up on this during the call. No matter how uneasy you might be feeling, its best to try to remain calm when talking to your family. You wont really have time to tell them that youre OK; youll have time to spit out your mailing address, then you have to give the phone to the next recruit in line. Make sure you and your family are braced for the experience. Patio Breaks After the first mandatory phone call, how often you get to call home is a matter of privilege. The phones are located on the break patio of each dormitory. You earn patio breaks as a flight by keeping your TI happy. If your flight is doing well, your TI will give you more patio breaks. If your flight is not doing well, the TI may withhold patio breaks. TIs are given a lot of latitude in this area. Other than the first phone call, you will only be allowed to call home during authorized patio breaks. And needless to say, you wont have access to cell phones during most of boot camp. Prepaid Phone Cards You may get lucky and your TI will give your flight a patio break when nobody else has one, or you may get to the patio and find out that every other TI in the building decided to give their flights a patio break at the same time. How long you will be able to chat on the phone depends on how long your patio break is, and how many other folks are waiting to use the phone. Lots of other anxious folks are going to be waiting in line to use the pay phones at the same time as you. Each dormitory building has only one patio, and several flights are housed in each building. Remember, these are pay phones, so bringing a prepaid phone card with you to basic training can speed things up. That way, you wont have to go through the operator to arrange for a collect call.

Most positions are full-time and often include overtime.According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, special agents will experience slower than average job growth through 2024. Job prospects, however, will be better for applicants with bachelors degrees, and military and investigative experience. Those who speak more than one language will also have an advantage. Those with more experience usually get to work the most desirable hours, so if you are just starting out, expect to be scheduled nights, weekends, and holidays. Working in this field is, of course, dangerous. There is a high risk of injury since special agents can be wounded by suspects or receive injuries during high-speed car chases. Following proper procedures can help lessen the chances of something going wrong. This is also an emotionally and physically stressful job. One never knows what will come up during his or her shift and must be ready to deal with all types of situations. Education and Training Before becoming a special agent, one usually gets experience working as a police officer. A high school diploma is the minimum requirement for anyone who wants to begin a career in law enforcement, but many local and state agencies also require some college coursework or even a degree. Typically one must be at least 21 years old, pass a test for physical fitness, and undergo a background check and a polygraph (lie detector). Local law enforcement agencies put all recruits through a police academy. Large agencies have their own training facilities, but smaller ones, for example, a police department in a small town, may send their recruits off to be trained in a regional academy. Upon graduation, one begins his or her on-the-job training. If you want to become an FBI agent, you must get a bachelors degree. You will also need at least three years of work experience. 5 Tips for Finding a Job After Law School
5 Tips for Finding a Job After Law School 5 Tips for Finding a Job After Law School Although the hiring outlook for recent law school graduates has improved, learning how to find a job remains, well, a job. Legal careers are in flux as traditional business models evolve, and law firms and corporate legal departments face ongoing pressure to deliver more cost-effective services. If you're a job seeker entering this rapidly changing environment, you must be as knowledgeable about how to find a job as you are about contracts and statutes. Consider incorporating these five strategies into your search efforts: 1. Go the extra mile in law school Earning a high grade point average and participating in extracurricular professional activities - such as doing pro bono work, holding a leadership role in a law association or publishing articles - will give you an edge in finding a job. Here's an example: A newly appointed judge in search of a law clerk received about 75 applications for a position that might have drawn a dozen candidates in the past. To weed out applicants, he eliminated those who hadn't written for their school's Law Review and who didn't have at least a 3.0 GPA. That allowed him to cut the applicant pool by about half, illustrating that what you do in law school does matter. At Robert Half Legal, our recruiting specialists bring decades of experience helping job seekers find great career opportunities. Let us help you find the right job for you. GET HELP FINDING WORK 2. Think outside the box Some traditional career routes have narrowed, but legal careers have become more varied and diverse overall. Since law firms may never hire partners include positions within consulting and accounting firms, legal processing outsourcers and corporate compliance roles. When considering how to find a job, be open to some of these nontraditional ways of using your law degree to gain employment. 3. Follow trends New opportunities continue to emerge in the legal job market, which makes it essential to stay abreast of trends. A good resource is Robert Half Legal's Future Law Office research program, as well as periodic surveys on hiring projections. Knowing how to find a job means keeping up with in-demand practice areas and taking note of the types of positions being created. Shifting needs may suggest that you should target a different practice area than you initially planned. 4. Use your career services office Your on-campus career services office can help you find internships, schedule on-campus interviews and become more educated about the legal job market. If anyone knows how to help you find a job, it's the career center staff! They can provide information on a range of legal jobs, including nontraditional-track positions in law firms and corporations. You can also learn more about interviewing, starting salaries and billable hours expectations, among other topics. 5. Adopt multiple strategies Don't rely on just one method to land a position. It's equally important to network online and in person. Join professional groups and stay in touch with law school colleagues and professors. In addition, you may want to research and proactively contact firms, as well as respond to job postings you find through LinkedIn or other sources.
